Dress Code & Regulations

The following is appropriate attire for the Golf Course, Champions Bar, Driving Range and Practice areas:

  • The wearing of garments bearing conspicuous commercial advertising or large manufacturer
    logos is discouraged.

Men:

  • Golf shirts with collars & sleeves, Shirts to be tucked in at all times. (No T-Shirts).
  • Traditional long or short golf trousers with belt or clasp.
  • Drawstring and cargo pants are not permitted.
  • Traditional golf hats or peaks may be worn with the peak forward. No hats permitted in the Clubhouse.
  • Short white socks are permitted with shorts, no black or alternative socks.
  • Closed golf shoes with soft spikes.
  • Denims are permitted in the Clubhouse, provided they are neat and in good condition. Faded, frayed,
    torn or distressed jeans are strictly prohibited

Ladies

  • The regulatory dress code of the Women’s Golf Association of South Africa applies as per above.
  • Fashionable golfing attire is encouraged but should be of a modest nature.
  • Garments with low necklines, bare midriff or made from denim fabric are not permitted.

Any person dressed inappropriately will not be permitted access to the golf course, practice areas, driving range or in the Clubhouse.

Golf course etiquette:

  • Please repair all divots & pitch marks.
  • Please ensure you are on the tee at least 5 minutes ahead of your allotted time.
  • All visitors to have a minimum of one spotter per 4-ball.
  • Sandbags with sand are compulsory to fill divots.
  • Rake all bunkers correctly.
  • Speed of play is of great importance to the enjoyment of your round & those behind you.
  • Keep up with the 4 ball in front of you.
  • Strictly two persons only per golf cart. Drivers must be 18 years or older.
  • When driving a cart, please stay on the cart paths where possible, behind the white ropes at the greens and following the instructions on the GPS’s.
  • Keep golf carts off all tee boxes.
  • Playing of music & the consumption of alcohol on the golf course, driving range and practice facilities is strictly prohibited.

Halfway house

  • Our Halfway House is designed as an express service and to accommodate only one group at a time.
  • Please proceed to the 10th Tee as soon as the group behind you leaves the 9th Green.

Local Rules

Out of bounds

During play of the 14th Hole the fairway of the 10th Hole as defined by the closely mown area, is out of bounds for any tee shot or stroke and distance penalty shot that must be made from the teeing area. For any other shot the 10th fairways is back in play and can be used without penalty.  Beyond all boundary fences and walls.

The short game/practice area (right of the 1st Tee) demarcated by white lines and/or stakes.

The Driving Range Area to the right of both the 17th & 18th fairways demarcated by white lines and/or white stakes.

The clubhouse area demarcated by white markings on the brickwork surrounding the clubhouse extending to the Driving Range as well as the short game practice area (right of 1st Tee) as indicated by white stakes.

Abnormal Course Conditions Including Immovable Obstructions (Rule 16)

If a player has interference for swing or stance from the following conditions they may take Free Relief under Rule 16 by dropping ball within a 1 club length area from the Nearest Point of full relief which is not nearer to the hole.

  • All artificially surfaced roads and paths.

  • Staked trees identified by a white stake.

Note: By definition, all artificially surfaced cart paths, burrowing animal holes, sprinkler heads, control boxes, and other fixtures that are part of the irrigation systems are immovable obstructions.

Immovable Obstructions Close to Putting Greens

Model Local Rule F-5 is modified as follows:

The player has an additional option to take relief when immovable obstructions are on or close to the putting green and on the player’s line of play:

Ball in General Area: The player may take relief under Rule 16.1b if an immovable obstruction is on the line of play within two club-lengths of the putting green and within two club-lengths of the ball and where both the ball and the obstruction are in part of the General Area cut to fairway height or less.

Complete relief must be taken which includes both physical and line of play interference.

Penalty Areas

The Burn, all dams, and all drainage ditches demarcated by red stakes/red lines.

Distance Markers

Distance markers on fairways are measured in meters to the front edge of the greens. Distance markers on tees are measured in meters to the front edge of the green and pin sheet distances will then apply.

Allocation of Strokes for +Handicaps

+1 – Hole 8, Par 5, Stroke 15

+2 – Hole 10, Par 5, Stroke 12

+3 – Hole 3, Par 5, Stroke 13

+4 – Hole 14, Par 5, Stroke 8

+5 – Hole 18, Par 4, Stroke 18

Follow highest remaining strokes and work down for any further + strokes.
